On November 11th 2019, ARROW’s Executive Director, Sivananthi Thanenthiran was on local radio station BFM 89.9 to discuss the issue of virginity tests.
The podcast discussed how these tests aren’t just inaccurate and unnecessary, but also condemned by many human and gender rights organisations for causing deep psychological trauma and reinforcing patriarchal culture. Siva also spoke about adolescent and youth sexuality, comprehensive sexuality education (CSE) and the culture of policing the bodies of women and girls.
