This publication is part of a series of briefs produced by the Gender Equality Initiative in Malaysia. These briefs are intended to be used as advocacy tools by civil society organisations, partners and stakeholders to conduct advocacy on the ratification and implementation of core international human rights conventions and to encourage broad-based public engagement with these issues. The Gender Equality Initiative aims to contribute to the adoption of the gender equality act that aims to abolish discriminatory laws and policies and fulfil the human rights against women, young people and non binary persons against discrimination and violence in Malaysia.
