Our Network currently comprises over 60 members across 12 countries in the Asia region. Our members are activists, civil society organisations, survivors, researchers, medical professionals, journalists and religious leaders. We are committed to working collaboratively together to promote the abandonment of all forms of FGM/C across the Asia region.

The Asia Network to End Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting (FGM/C) is a collaborative group of civil society actors working across Asia to end all forms of FGM/C.

The Asia Network does this by:

  • Supporting and connecting engaged and informed civil society actors working to end FGM/C across Asia
  • Raising awareness of the practice of FGM/C in Asia at national, regional and global levels
  • Advocating for laws, policies, programmes and resourcing to end FGM/C in Asia
  • Gathering data, evidence and supporting further research on the scope and practice of FGM/C in Asia, including effective strategies to support abandonment of the practice
  • Championing and promoting grassroots and survivor voices working to end FGM/C in Asia
  • Providing a supportive and collaborative platform for knowledge-sharing to end FGM/C
  • Connecting Asian activists and civil society to the global movement to end FGM/C

About the Asia Network to End FGM/C

Our Network currently comprises over 60 members across 12 countries in the Asia region. Our members are activists, civil society organisations, survivors, researchers, medical professionals, journalists and religious leaders. We are committed to working collaboratively together to promote the abandonment of all forms of FGM/C across the Asia region.

We are looking to expand and grow our network of actors across Asia. We are interested in linking and connecting with Individuals and Organisations that are:

  • based in Asia and actively work/worked on the issue of FGM/C,
  • based in Asia and work on related issues to FGM/C (this can include issues such as child rights, gender-based violence or sexual and reproductive health and rights issues)  and want to work on FGM/C in the near future,
  • not based in Asia but have strong links to the region and work actively on ending FGM/C

Objectives of the Asia Network to End FGM/C💡

  • Support Members in carrying out advocacy to end FGM/C in Asia, creating linkages and connections with local and regional levels.
  • Equip members with tools, knowledge, skills, and capacity to effectively champion and advocate for the end to FGM/C in national, regional, and international levels and advocacy spaces.
