The Asia-Pacific Youth taking the Pact for the Future Forward is a side event  jointly organised by ARROW, UNESCAP, Major Group for Children and Youth (MGCY) and Right Here Right Now (RHRN) during the Summit of the Future Action Days Official Programme. It will bring together a multi-stakeholder, intersectional and intergenerational panel to discuss meaningful and inclusive engagement of young people in realising the Pact for the Future.

EVENT DESCRIPTION

The Asia-Pacific Youth taking the Pact for the Future Forward side event will include include young people, civil society organisations (CSO), member states, UN entities, and other key stakeholders from Asia and the Pacific.

It will specifically highlight the Call to Action developed by 82 young people from 21 countries from the Asia-Pacific at the Asia-Pacific Regional Convening Ahead of the Summit of the Future: Young People at the Forefront, and discuss ways to implement the recommendations.

Asia-Pacific Regional Convening Ahead of the Summit of the Future – Young People at the Forefront Call to Action Final

The Asia-Pacific Regional Convening Ahead of the Summit of the Future: Young People at the Forefront was the only regional youth convening organised at such scale in the region prior to the Summit of the Future.

The convening discussed national and regional issues, perspectives, and demands of young people from the Asia-Pacific region specific to the five action areas of the Pact of the Future. The main outcome of the regional convening is the Call to Action.

The panel for this side event will be inclusive of government representatives, UN agencies, major groups, and other stakeholders and young people representing the Asia-Pacific Regional Convening Ahead of the Summit of the Future.

The discussions in the side event will focus on approaches for effective implementation of the Pact for the Future to advance Agenda 2030, the relevance and urgency of the action areas of the pact for young people as well as women and girls, while also building on the importance of mainstreaming human rights, gender equality, sexual and reproductive health and reproductive rights, and climate actions. Key recommendations from the call to action will be further discussed.

The participants will include young people, CSOs, member states, UN entities, and other key stakeholders from the region.
