Battling Barriers: Religion and Women’s Right to Contraception Services and Information

TP Religion & Contraception WEB_001

The current paper looks at the role of religious beliefs and practices on people’s reservations about the purpose, nature, and effects of sexual reproductive health and rights (SRHR). These reservations and attitudes are often related to religious interpretations of gender, sexuality, ownership of the body, the family and its roles, and beliefs about when life begins. The paper also looks at the porous boundary between “the state” and “religion”.
