“Empowering Young People and Ensuring Inclusivity and Equality in the Asia Pacific”
In 2019, ARROW and the Youth Constituency of APRCEM YouthLEAD and YPEER convened the third APFSD Youth Forum, ahead of APFSD 2019. The Forum brought together 80 young individuals, activists and advocates from youth-led, youth-serving, and youth-allied organisations in Asia and the Pacific region to address and approach the Sustainable Development Agenda with an intersectional lens, most especially from diverse voices, realities and experiences. The APFSD Youth Forum 2019 Call to Action was developed to echo their voice, concerns and demands and was used for policy advocacy engagements by young people attending the APFSD 2019.
The final day was dedicated to finalising and adopting the Youth Call to Actions and discussing ways forward for youth engagement in regional and global forums. Representatives from five national APFSD Youth Alliances (Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Mongolia, and Papua New Guinea) shared their experiences of establishing country-level platforms to advance SDG implementation and youth engagement at the national level.
