International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) + 10

Indonesia’s reproductive health status has been greatly affected by the social, economic and political circumstances in the country since 1999. The Government of Indonesia (GOI) cited the economic crisis as the main cause for the failure of numerous sexual and reproductive health programmes. Monitoring Ten Years Of ICPD Implementation, The Way Forward To 2015, Asian Country Reports presents findings from the only study in Asia, and one of the few globally, to provide much needed evidence on ICPD progress in time for the 10 year review.

International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) + 5

The continuing decline in fertility in Indonesia seems in itself a justification for the government programme to continue to concentrate on demographic impact (rather than consumer satisfaction or individual health and welfare) as a measure of programme performance. To organise and motivate the bureaucracy, family planning goals were translated into quantitative-numeric targets, including for specific methods. This article looks into the different issues and themes surrounding sexual and reproductive health and rights in Indonesia such as women and reproductive health and issues of concern ( high maternal mortality rate, gender sensitivity). Read about it in Taking up the Cairo Challenge – Country Study of Indonesia.
