Intern: Digital Library Management

  • Background:

    ARROW SRHR’s Knowledge Sharing Centre (ASK-us) is one of the last remaining resource centres dedicated to women’s health and SRHR issues in the global South region and globally. Guided by the principle that strategic collection, preservation and dissemination of SRHR resources can lead to social change, ASK-us has been serving SRHR advocates, academics, researchers, health professionals and other stakeholders. The collections include books, journals, audio-visual materials, articles, brochures, information packages, conference publication and grey literature, which sit on its physical resource centre and its internal public server. At present ARROW is planning to implement a digital library, envisioned as an advanced form of an Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) to facilitate easier access to these resources.

    • The intern position is opened to students currently studying in the local colleges/universities.

    • The main task of the intern is to organise ARROW’s existing e-resources into the Digital Library.

    • The intern should have the following skills:

    ♦ Good IT skills – someone who is used to social media, blog and other web postings etc;

    ♦ Basic writing skills – able to write a brief summary on the resources posted; and

    ♦ Preferably one who is familiar with WordPress (not compulsory).

    Expected Deliverables:

    To organise at least 1,000 e-resources into ARROW’s digital library in 3 months.

    The intern will be paid an allowance of RM500.00 per month
